They're On!

Image
I put the clamps I made onto the frame. Only one gave me a hard time staying on. I probably need to remove two metal prongs on the left side of the frame. That would probably fix the problem I'm having . I'll probably use my industrial chain cutter to get the prongs off if a screwdriver and hammer doesn't work. Over all I'm happy with the results despite that one troublesome clamp.

Flexing Some Muscle!

I had to bend the above into the shapes below. I Needed 4 clamps to hold the Mobile Boat Cradle joints together. I'm sure that one screw won't be enough to hold the clamps in place. There's an extra hole in each clamp, making it possible to add another screw, allowing  the clamps to have a tighter grip on the joints that's being held together.

Camping Out!

The Auset Fronds looks like someone who has pulled the covers over them to keep warm. She's still waiting to be taken out the yard, so I can start working on her shallow deck. I had to add some more sealant to a few "Noodles that became loose from the rain we been having. The good thing is that the rest of the "Noodles" stayed tightly bonded together. I thought that the sealant I had left got dried out from sitting too long but I cut off a bit of the nozzle that had dried up sealant in it. That allow the sealant that was still syrupy to come out easily. I used the whole tube of sealant to bond the loose "Noodles" that got loose. Hopefully they will remain tightly bonded in the future. I decided to cover the boat with the sail I got from neighbors that lived across from me. I've decided to cover the "Noodles" with waterproof tape. I'm thinking of coating the tape with the rubber spray to make the tape more water resistant. I think adding

Woven!

What I'm doing is nothing new. People been weaving plant fiber for thousands of years I can only imagine. The Auset Fronds after all is basically a organic boat, even though I'm using foam rubber, plastic and metal to build it. The non organics are just reinforcements to make the boat more sturdy. I wove another mat made from frond leaves. The second mat came out much better and it didn't take me a long time to make it. I did more work on the yard, but it doesn't look any different than the picture that I posted in yesterday's blog. I did forget to mention that Skulla was moved further away to keep my dog from messing with it. I just rearranged it the way it was when it was in it's first location. I won't be making any more mats until I make a deck for the boat. The mats were an experiment to see if I could weave the fronds leaves. I have to say that they actually came out pretty good.

Organization!

I been spending a lot of time processing and organizing everything that was donated to me. I finally am finished and I'm preparing to take the boat out  of the yard soon. I did an experiment with the dried palm leaves left over from some fronds I kept from awhile back. I have to say it came out okay. I'm posting this blog from my netbook. It's way more easier than blogging from a cellphone; not to forget that it's way faster also.
