Sailing!

Image
I turned the sail on the other side. There's zippers and hooks found on it. I have to research the type of sail this is and how it is rigged to the mast. At the moment it's making a great covering for the boat. I don't doubt that it's a sail because of the logo I found on it. I'm very certain the sail was made for a specific type of boat. I took basic sailing with the NROTC at SSU for a semester, but the sails we used were for basic rigging. Using this sail can't even be imagined right now because the boat is nowhere near finished, adding that I still have to test how buoyant the boat will be in the water. For what I thought would be a small project,  is becoming serious business. Not in the sense of making money, but being a real possibility of taking the project further.

INTUITIVE ENGINEERING!

I finally started working on my Mobile Egyptian Skiffy Cradle. I had to remove the screws that was located in the legs of the metal frame I found. Once that was done, I was able to separate the joints connecting the upper part of the frame to it's lower joints. Once that was done, I rearranged everything with the idea of making the cradle like the Ancient Egyptian sled design. The pieces are conveying to me where they go. The technical aspects of the design will take a bit of brainstorming. I have yet to measure the length and width of the cradle. The plan is to make the cradle adjustable. How the boat will sit in the cradle also has to be figured out, but the width of the cradle seems to be wide enough. I already have an idea of what wheels I'll be using. Once I get the rest of the parts that will go into making the cradle and It's assembled, I'll draw a diagram of it. It seems inspiration comes almost like a musician who has the ability to play by ear. For me des

Work Load!

Today I mostly processed more fronds. By the looks of the pile of fronds that were processed, it doesn't look like there were that many fronds. The leaves were very wide making it appear as if there were a lot of fronds.  The "Noodles" that were loose are tightly sealed together. The sealant bonded very well. I want to make some mats out of the frond leaves. A woman is actually shown weaving some frond leaves online. The whole tree can actually be used for boat building I can imagine, but that would be taking on a major project.

Frequency!

It's been a minute since I posted any updates. I had problems trying to remember logins and passwords. Every time you purchase a new phone, you have to remember your login information or else you can't get into your one line accounts. I had to add some sealant to 2 "Noodles" that I discovered were loose. I put the boat right side up so the weight of the boat can rest on the "Noodles" while the sealant is drying. I'm so happy that I was able to access my blog again. This time I wrote down my login info so I'll have it if I ever have to get another phone in the future. I'm still working on making a platform to rest The Auset Fronds on. I have to get the boat out my backyard. I found a boat sail in the neighborhood. I was really surprised to run across such an item. Even though I'm not too far from a marina, I just didn't expect to find a boat sail amongst discarded items from a house on this block. No one has a sailboat in the surrounding
