Three Down And One To Go!

 I spent 7 hours putting these Jaw Rails together and then mounting them on the boat. Towards the evening, attaching the rails to the boat got difficult because I was bombarded with gnats flying all over my face, neck  and head. After awhile, it started becoming extremely uncomfortable to attach the rails to the boat. To make matters worse, it started raining and it was becoming too dark for me to finish making the last Jaw Rail and attaching it to the boat. I was able to finish constructing the last rail, but I had to bring it inside so I can finish tightening the screws on it.. I only have about 3 or 4 screws left to tighten which I'm going to finish doing sometime this evening.
Attaching the jaw rails was a very painful process. At the moment both of my hands are sore from being bitten every time I had to pick them up. Wearing gloves would have been too cumbersome to wear because they get snagged on the frond teeth. Today while I was working on the boat, it started really feeling surreal that I was witnessing the progression of something that a year ago,was just a passing dreamlike idea.
I still have a way to go before the boat is  totally completed.I still have to work on the boat's integrity before I launch her.

I finished tying down the  "Noodles"  on the bow (front) of the boat. Tomorrow I'll tie down the rest of the"Noodles" that's on the stern (back) of the boat. I'm still adding more adhesive here and there. The "Noodles" are still sticking up, resisting the stress placed on them. Stepping back, what I'm doing really feels surreal.

Finally Moving Forward!

 Yesterday I finally took the boat out the backyard so I could start working on making a deck for her. What I worked on today was removing the stuffing I packed the boat with. The material, (frond leaves) that I stuffed the boat with was totally unnecessary because the model boat I made totally out of fronds floated extremely well. I was so happy that I finally made the model, after months of trying out different techniques. I went back to the basic fronds and wood glue to construct the model. I had two little helpers who assisted me in testing the model on a small pond. i was so elated that the model float as well as it did. I have to say I'm actually not behind schedule in the launch date for The Auset Fronds. Constructing the boat's deck is the fun part because there's so many things I plan to do to the boat in the completion of building her. I've even found a company that is going to assist me in the patent process. They were really impressed with what I'm doi

Little Bits!

.I was able to work on the boat over the weekend. I decided to loosen the binds on both ends of the boat. Hopefully the fronds will stay upright. I attached the fronds at the bow with some metal I made into fasteners. I'm plan on doing the same thing to the fronds at the stern of the boat. In order for me to be able to straighten the fronds at each end, I had to raise the boat higher. The next thing is to add more glue in order to seal all the fronds in place, which will strengthen the hull over all. A rubber sealant will then be applied once all the fronds on the outside of the hull is rock solid.
