I Remember!
Looking back a year ago I remember when the Auset Fronds looked like a fledgling Octopus. I didn't know anything about the different types of fronds there were. Within the course of a year, I learned about the various types of fronds there are. I learned how soft or hard they are also, which determines how difficult or easy some are to work with. It appear like I have worked with all the species of palm tree fronds that's in this part of Georgia. Now that the deck is made, I want to saw or cut the ends so that they will be even. If I would have cut the fronds evenly before laying them down, I would have made things much easier for me. But since I didn't, I am now forced to use my saw to cut the ends evenly on some of the fronds. Truth is, I'm actually ecstatic about how far I gotten in the project. I know I need to create a Gant chart for the project which would show a visual timeline of when the project started and finished. The good thing is that I created this blog documenting my progress and the data can be entered into a Gant chart. Once I make the fronds even, I'm going to start on the pedal mechanism as well as making seats that will go on both sides of the middle section. The pedal mechanism is going to be in the center of the boat. Hopefully when the time comes for me to test the boat on the water, I will be physically ready to pedal the boat around the lake a few times. The fronds have to be treated so they will be more waterproof. When the boat is rained on, there's a mildew build up on some of the fronds. Also I have to vacuum the boat where the Noodles are at both ends. A lot of falling debris from the large tree the boat is next to wound up in there. Also a baby lizard made the Auset Fronds it's home and it seems to have gotten use to me because it stopped running away from me. It now comes from under the boat to look at me. I really find that too funny.
