Rinse Sing!

Image
Today I hosed the boat down after removing more loose adhesive. The "Noodles" have become quite firm even though it rained hard yesterday. It's extremely important that the "Noodles" stay together once the Auset Fronds is launched. I'm  striving to strengthen the integrity of the boat so I added "Noodles" to two places that I wasn't satisfied with. The "Noodles" wasn't placed the way I have them now. I'm not really trying to achieve aesthetics at the moment because I'm more concerned with how the boat does once it's launched.

Down Pour Error Messages!

It rained yesterday but the"Noodles" remained a tight bond even though there was wet adhesive. I removed more soft adhesive and the "Noodles" were stll bonded together. Applying the sealant helped. I finally bout 3 cans of rubber coating and well applying another coat before I start working on the other side.

Extensions!

I was able to get more long fronds from across town! These will be used for the bow and stern of the boat. Individually they are fragile but very strong as a bundle. I think these jacks will come in handy also! I actually will need four large ones instead of these two small jacks.

Triple Checking!

I made sure all the "Noodles" were bonded tight before I Added the rubber coating for the last time. These two areas needed a bit more sealant.

Another Go Round!

For some reason, this post feels like a recap. I worked on the boat days ago. Im just posting an update now. I removed more adhesive and applied the second tube of sealant. I'm going to still apply some rubber coating spray to the seams in between the "Noodles!" Realizing that I didn't need to use the adhesive in the first place, is part of my learning process through trial and error. The true test will be if the boat stays afloat once she's waterborne. Being patient in the process of discovery is truly a nail bitting experience.

One Down!

I used up the first bottle of sealant and this coming Thursday I will load the second bottle of sealant in the sealant gun. Even though the process takes much longer than using rubber spray, using the sealant creates a much stronger bond than the rubber spray because of it's glue like texture. In order for me to get the desired results, I have to apply at least as much as it is required to cover a 10ft surface. A Half a gallon would make the hull waterproof as well as more sturdy. There's no such thing as frugal spending when money is needed to get the job done right.

Maybe It Will, Maybe It Won't!

What  happens to the boat in the rain, will happen to the boat when it sits in the water. I decided to remove all the loose semi-dried adhesive. I started working on the boat a bit late today. Other than some loose moist adhesive, the "Noodles"bonded together excellently. That for me is a motivation booster. The sealant is now my choice to use as a glue for my next boat building project. I to apply sealant in places where I had to remove loose adhesiveI'm.

Turning Over Pressure Wash!

Image
I was able to move the boat closer to the back door so I could hose down the "Noodles." The boat is no longer resting beneath tree branches, so hopefully not too many leaves and foliage from the trees will fall in between the"Noodles." I tested the strength of the bond after applying the sealant and I have to say the "Noodles" are bonded tightly to each other, making the hull itself even more stronger. I flipped the boat over a few times as well as stood on it while rocking from side to side. I plan on hosing the"Noodles" down one last time before applying the last coat of rubber coating. I have to make sure that the bottom of the boat is well coated before I turn it over to finish working on the other side. I don't want to have to turn the boat over for any reason again once I start working on the deck. Once the deck is done I plan on preparing for a launch to test how well the boat floats. If the test goes well then I will finish addin

House Cleaning!

I did a lot of organizing because things were too chaotic so I has to ignore the thoughts that said "Ill do it another time. I'm glad I ignore those lazy feelings I had every time I looked at the chaos in front of me. Now when I look around, I am glad I was able to do what was needed to be done.
